Unexpected turn of events ...

Life has a remarkable way of changing direction when you least expect it.

What began as a simple conversation about rising rental prices slowly became something much bigger. Every year seemed to bring another increase, making us wonder if renting still made sense. Buying a home wasn't really part of the plan—not yet, at least. We simply wanted to explore our options and learn what to look for when viewing a house. Nothing more.

The first day... 

I wake before the alarm most mornings now. Most of the time around 05:00 am. At 54, sleep doesn’t cling the way it used to. Dawn filters through the blinds in soft, uncertain stripes, and for a few quiet seconds I lie still, listening—to the hum of the world, to my own breath, to whatever invisible forces decided I’d get another day....
